Booking Procedures

All of our cottages are listed on the Calendars/Availability page and from there on the 3 month calendar pages, showing you each cottage’s availability.

When you have chosen the cottage and are ready to proceed, we will forward you a rental agreement along with additional booking information.  You are to fill in and sign the rental agreement and return to Northern Retreats.  Along with the rental agreement we require 1/3 of the rental amount as a booking deposit and $75 non refundable administration fee. The remainder plus refundable damage deposit are due in the form of a post dated cheque dated 4 weeks prior to the rental date.  All rentals Once received, we will contact you and forward additional cottage information including directions to the cottage and lock box information.

Please note all cottage rentals are now subject to HST

Trip Cancellation Insurance

Our Cancellation policy is as follows: A cancellation of booking sixty days or more prior to rental period will result in a refund of half of the booking deposit. A cancellation of rental after sixty days prior will result in loss of all monies paid.

We encourage you to purchase Trip Cancellation Insurance from:

Ingle International –For information on Travel Insurance and Trip Cancellation please call: 1-800-360-3234 or 416-730-8488 or by email at helpline@ingleinsurance.com. Monday-Friday 8am-9pm and Saturday 9am-5pm. Their website is available 24/7 at Ingleinternational.com but they do not have (trip cancellation) offered online only by phone or email for someone travelling in their home province (so if you are from Ontario travelling within Ontario you must call or email). Make sure you let them know that you are travelling in your home province and they will find you the appropriate package.

If you are looking for “cancel for any reason”  insurance, request Manulife. Please note this has to be purchased within 72 hours of the initial booking with Northern Retreats


Methods of Payment:

Regular bookings: Cheque or Money Order made payable to Northern Retreats and sent to:

Northern Retreats ~ Box 278 ~ Kearney, ON ~ P0A

Or

E-transfer for an additional fee of $1.50/transfer that needs to be added onto payment.

Booking made less then 2 weeks prior to the rental: You are required to pay in full for the rental including your refundable security deposit in the form of a certified cheque or money order and send to the address above via Express Post. Or you can send an e-transfer. Any charges accrued by the agents bank on behalf of insufficient funds, overseas wire transfers or stop payment required due to wrong address given or such will be charged to the renter out of their security deposit or they will be sent notification to reimburse us within 2 weeks.

Non refundable administration fee on all confirmed bookings: $75.

There will be a charge of $50.00 for all NSF cheques.
